A simple solution is to preserve them. Fermenting is an ancient technique that has been proven to be working whether using salt, sugar, spices or all in combination. • Drain the orange slices and rinse them with cold water.

  • In a separate pot, combine sugar, honey, and a pinch of salt with 2 cups of water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.

  • Add the orange slices to the pot of syrup and bring to a simmer. Cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until the orange slices are translucent and the syrup has thickened.

  • Remove the pot from heat and let it cool down to room temperature.
