Cocoa Almond Candy

It has been a few months since lockdown has begun and I start to run out of things to chew during my Netflix session. So, today I will make almond candies with cocoa powder and sesame seeds. This is a great party snack and you can make a large batch then store in an airtight container for the next munching session. Sound simple enough? Let’s get into it.

Ingredients

  • 250g roasted almond

  • 110g raw sugar

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds

  • 80ml water

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

How to make

  • To make the almond candies, start by roasting the almonds in the oven for about 10-15 minutes at 180C or until golden brown. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool.

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, salt and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved. Once dissolved, turn the heat to high and bring to a boil. Cook for a couple of minutes until it turns into a golden brown caramel color.

Add the roasted almonds into the caramel and stir until the almonds are well coated. Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Then sprinkle sesame seeds and cocoa powder on top. Let it cool and harden for about 30 minutes.

Once set, break the candies into bite-size pieces. Store in an airtight container for your next snacking session. Enjoy!
